Introduction to Surah Mulk

Tafseer of Surah Mulk, verse 29–30: ٱلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ, peace mercy blessings be on you. Welcome to Surah Mulk. Alhamdulillah, we are still going on with the 67th chapter of the Quran, called Surah Mulk. So, let’s take a look on the previous ayah No. 28, where Allah Almighty said,

Which means, “Say, [O Muhammad], Have you considered: whether Allah should cause my death and those with me or have mercy upon us, who can protect the disbelievers from a painful punishment?” So, Allah Almighty saying, If you don’t follow the right path, the path of Allah, the path of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, then who will take you out from the punishment of the grave. Then Allah Almighty said to prophet Muhammad ﷺ to tell these peoples in ayah No. 29, where Allah Almighty said:

Tafseer of Surah Mulk

Tafseer of Surah Mulk Verse 29–30

Which means, Say, “He is the most Merciful; we have believed in Him, and upon Him we have relied. And you will [come to] know who it is that is in clear error.” So, Allah Almighty telling again, to them and telling everyone of us. Whoever read the Quran didn’t say anything about himself, and he didn’t describe himself by another name or another attribute. He said, قُلْ هُوَ الرَّحْمٰنُ, “Say He is the most merciful.” Now, imagine every time you read the Quran and you open any chapter of it, and at the beginning, you will see [بِسمِ اللہِ الرَّحمٰنِ الرَّحِيم], “In the name of Allah, The Most Gracious and The Most Merciful.” So, he is, الرَّحمٰنِ, he doesn’t want to put the non-Believers and the disbelievers and those who are denying Allah Almighty to hellfire. This is not what he created the human being for.

He created them to live on this earth and warship Allah Almighty alone to follow the path of truth, the path of Allah (SWT). This the purpose to life on this earth and warship Allah (SWT), living in a community, living in a society, living and cooperating with one another, and die in a good term and condition by following the path of Allah Almighty, following the path of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, and you meet Allah that, and whoever meets Allah on that, he will deserve to get into Jannah. That is the reason that Allah Almighty about himself, الرَّحْمٰنُ.

It was easy for Allah to say, f.g, قُلْ هُوَ ٱللَّهُ, “Say, he is Allah,” but Allah Almighty prefared to say himself, قُلْ هُوَ الرَّحْمٰنُ. “Say, The Most Merciful” اٰمَنَّا بِهٖ, “We believed in him, we believe in every single thing” وَعَلَیْهِ تَوَكَّلْنَا, we relied, we prevent on him for everything. This is the strong belief that we want from every person, that whatever you do in life, believe on Allah, فَسَتَعْلَمُوْنَ, again this message is to the non-believers that you will come to know, مَنْ هُوَ فِیْ ضَلٰلٍ مُّبِیْنٍ, you will come to know on the day of judgment, who is on a biggest, the clear misguidence, because in this world, you used to say, “I don’t care, I’m rich” and they used to blame to the believers as back word as misguaided peoples. Allah Almighty says, فَسَتَعْلَمُوْنَ, means, “You will come to know on the day of judgment” Who is the misguidence and on a clear misguidence. In the last of Surah Mulk, Allah Almighty gives us a most beloved Ayah No. 30.

He says,

Which means, “Say, Have you considered: If your water was to become sunken [Into the earth], then who could bring you flowing water?” So, what is the meaning of this last ayah of Surah Mulk, let’s understand in depth. Allah Almighty again telling to prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Just, imagine that, who is doing everything? who is controlling everything? and this is linked with the verse No. 1,

Which means, “Most Blessed is He in Whose control is the entire Kingdom, and He is Powerful over all things.”

Conclusion

Tell them, O Muhammad, If your water completely down into the earth. Who will bring the water? Allah (SWT), So, Allah Almighty giving a small example to the non-believers and disbelievers, that imagine, if your water goes down, who bring up? فَمَنْ یَّاْتِیْكُمْ بِمَآءٍ مَّعِیْنٍ, who is bringing you a clear flowing water? IS Allah Almighty without any logic, any thinking. The one, who is able to bring the water into the earth, and he is the one who is able to flow up to the earth. So, he is Allah Almighty, believe him, think about him, follow him. So, this was a clear and simple example giving by Allah to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, to tell all the non-believers and disbelievers, that whatever happing around the world like, sun, moon, stars, air and everything. Who is controlling it? Allah Almighty and if he controlling it on the day of judgment, he is able to make you die and on the day of judgment, he is able to recirect you to the day of judgment.
