So, let’s take a look at the previous ayah No. 28, where Allah Almighty said,
Tafseer of Surah Mulk Verse 29–30
Which means, “Say, [O Muhammad], have you considered whether Allah should cause my death and those with me or have mercy upon us, who can protect the disbelievers from a painful punishment?” So, Allah Almighty is saying, If you don’t follow the right path, the path of Allah, the path of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, then who will take you out from the punishment of the grave?
Then Allah Almighty said to prophet Muhammad ﷺ to tell these peoples in ayah No. 29, where Allah Almighty said:
(۲۹) قُلْ هُوَ الرَّحْمٰنُ اٰمَنَّا بِهٖ وَعَلَیْهِ تَوَكَّلْنَا فَسَتَعْلَمُوْنَ مَنْ هُوَ فِیْ ضَلٰلٍ مُّبِیْنٍ
Which means, Say, “He is the most Merciful; we have believed in Him, and upon Him we have relied. And you will [come to] know who it is that is in clear error.”
So, Allah Almighty is telling them and telling all of us. Whoever read the Quran didn’t say anything about himself, and he didn’t describe himself by another name or another attribute.
He said, قُلْ هُوَ الرَّحْمٰنُ, “Say He is the most merciful.” Now, imagine every time you read the Quran and you open any chapter of it, at the beginning, you will see [بِسمِ اللہِ الرَّحمٰنِ الرَّحِيم], “In the name of Allah, The Most Gracious and The Most Merciful.”
So, he is, الرَّحمٰنِ, he doesn’t want to put the non-Believers and the disbelievers and those who are denying Allah Almighty to hellfire. This is not what he created the human being for.
He created them to live on this earth and worship Allah Almighty alone, to follow the path of truth, the path of Allah (SWT). This is the purpose of life on this earth: to worship Allah (SWT), live in a community, live in a society, live and cooperate with one another, and die in a good term and condition by following the path of Allah Almighty.
Following the path of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, and you meet Allah, and whoever meets Allah on that, he will deserve to get into Jannah. That is the reason that Allah Almighty is about himself,
It was easy for Allah to say, for example, قُلْ هُوَٱللَّهُ, “Say, he is Allah,” but Allah Almighty preferred to say it himself, قُلْ هُوَ الرَّحْمٰنُ. “Say, The Most Merciful,” اٰمَنَّا بِهٖ, “We believed in him; we believe in every single thing.” وَعَلَیْهِ تَوَكَّلْنَا, we relied on him for everything.
This is the strong belief that we want from every person, that whatever you do in life, believe in Allah, فَسَتَعْلَمُوْنَ. Again, this message is to the non-believers that you will come to know, مَنْ هُوَفِیْ ضَلٰلٍ مُّبِیْنٍ, you will come to know on the day of judgment who is on the biggest, the clearest misguidance, because in this world, you used to say,
“I don’t care; I’m rich,” and they used to blame the believers as backward and misguided people. Allah Almighty says, فَسَتَعْلَمُوْنَ, which means, “You will come to know on the day of judgment.” Who is the misguidance, and what is the clear misguidance? In the last of Surah Mulk, Allah Almighty gives us a most beloved Ayah No. 30.
He says,
Which means, “Say, have you considered: If your water was to become sunken [into the earth], then who could bring you flowing water?” So, what is the meaning of this last ayah of Surah Mulk? Let’s understand in depth. Allah Almighty again telling to prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Just imagine that—who is doing everything? Who is controlling everything? and this is linked with verse No. 1,
Which means, “Most Blessed is He in Whose control is the entire Kingdom, and He is Powerful over all things.”
Few Words
Tell them, O Muhammad, If your water completely down into the earth. Who will bring the water? Allah (SWT), So, Allah Almighty is giving a small example to the non-believers and disbelievers: imagine if your water goes down, who brings it up? فَمَنْ یَّاْتِیْكُمْ بِمَآءٍ مَّعِیْنٍ, who is bringing you a clear flowing water? Is Allah Almighty without any logic or thinking?
The one who is able to bring the water into the earth, and he is the one who is able to flow up to the earth.
So, he is Allah Almighty; believe him, think about him, and follow him. So, this was a clear and simple example given by Allah to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to tell all the non-believers and disbelievers that whatever is happening around the world, like the sun, moon, stars, air, and everything. Who is controlling it?
Allah Almighty, and if he is controlling it on the day of judgment, he is able to make you die, and on the day of judgment, he is able to redirect you to the day of judgment. So by that, we have arrived at the end of the Tafseer of Surah Mulk Full, but we have lots of knowledge to share with you about Surah Al-Mulk.
