So, we stopped at verse No.19, and today in this article, Inshallah, we will continue from ayah No. 20.

Tafseer of Surah Mulk (Verse 20–22)

Tafseer of Surah Mulk Verses 20-22

In, verse No. 20, Allah Almighty says,

Which means, “Or Who is it that could be an army for you to aid, you other than the Most Merciful? The disbelievers are not in delusion.” Here we have to think and ponder what Allah Almighty says:

أَمَّنْ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى هُوَ جُندٌۭ لَّكُمْ

That the one who is coming and being an army with you or trying to be like a soldier and provide you with the aids, يَنصُرُكُم مِّن دُونِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ, beside the most merciful. No one can support you, no one can help you, except Allah Almighty, then he says, إِنِ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ إِلَّا فِى غُرُورٍ, indeed the disbelievers.

Disbelievers are the delusion; it’s all the delusion that, you know, the aid or support that we are getting is because of our soul, so all because of our own knowledge, because of our own army, or because of our own equipment, weapons, or whatsoever. This is nothing; you are getting everything by the permission of Allah Almighty.

You can do nothing in your world, you can do nothing in your life, except by Allah Almighty’s permission, the most merciful and this is out of the mercy of Allah Almighty; even he have mercy on the non-believers in this world.

They have to think and ponder that Allah is ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ, the most compassionate, the most merciful. So, his mercy is wide, open wide and it is covering Muslims and non-Muslims, believers and non-believers. One of the authentic hadiths is one of these sayings of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ,

If Allah Almighty will not have mercy upon the non-believers, he will not make him live on this earth without anything. Allah will not even provide him a drink of water or a sip of water. But because it’s a mercy of Allah Almighty covering the believers and the non-believers, that’s why Allah Almighty is giving it to everyone.

If you are a non-believer, no problem; Allah is giving you. If you want to deny Allah Almighty, it doesn’t matter; Allah is keeping giving you. This is the mercy of Allah Almighty, the most merciful.

Tafseer of Surah Mulk

Same thing with the Muslim, but he is away from Allah Almighty, he is little backed up from Allah, he is little away from Allah Almighty, he is giving back to the religion and the path of Allah (SWT) and the path of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, even that person Allah is showing his mercy.

Can you imagine the one who is denying Allah (SWT) the creator, the one who created heaven and earth, but Allah Almighty keeps giving him.

If it were the case that Allah will only give to those who believe in him or have that belief that Allah Almighty is a creator, then half of the universe or more than half of the population of the world are already dead.

But this is the mercy of Allah (SWT) those who are even denying or worshiping beside Allah (SWT), some other things being fires, trees, animals and whatsoever, Allah Almighty is also merciful on them and this is the mercy of Allah (SWT) upon Muslims and non-Muslims, upon believers and non-believers.

So, this is the mercy of Allah Almighty, my brothers and sisters. So, Allah is saying here:

أَمَّنْ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى هُوَ جُندٌۭ لَّكُمْ يَنصُرُكُم مِّن دُونِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ إِنِ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ إِلَّا فِى غُرُورٍ

That the one who is really supporting you and trying to you know, being an army with you or trying to you know, being soldier to provide you with the aid, it’s nothing, it’s only from Allah Almighty, it is only and only from Allah (SWT) that’s all.

And at the end Allah Almighty says, إِنِ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ إِلَّا فِى غُرُورٍ, the non-believers are into their own delusion may Allah Almighty keep our eyes open and may and may Allah (SWT) keep our heart open, so we see, what is right ? and follow it, until we die and we meet him.

Allah (SWT) is saying something more important in verse No. 21,

Which means, “Or who is it that could provide for you if He withheld His provision? But they have persisted in insolence and aversion.” So, let’s understand the meaning of this verse in depth.

Sometimes Allah Almighty makes them think about who is providing them, but most of the time they don’t think Allah (SWT) makes them think about who is providing you?

Tafseer of Surah Mulk (Verse 20–22)

If this person is providing you, if he holds what he is providing you, what will happen to you? But what will happen these non-believers and those who are against the concept of worshiping Allah Almighty or being on the right path.

So, what will happen to them? بَل لَّجُّوا۟ فِى عُتُوٍّۢ وَنُفُورٍ, they will increase, they will persist in what in insolence and aversion they just want to deny, they just want to rebel, and they just want to continue with the non-believers that they are doing, and this is the big problem.

Many people they don’t want to open their eyes and see the truth from Allah Almighty. May Allah protect us. Then Allah (SWT) gave us another example, he says in verse No. 22;

Which means, “Then is one who walls fallen on his face better guided or one who walks erect on a straight path?” Just imagine the one who is falling on his face and just walking while falling on his face. Is he more guided than the one who is walking straight and knows where he is going?

Few Words

So, this is very important for all of us to understand, أَفَمَن يَمْشِى مُكِبًّا عَلَىٰ وَجْهِهِ, have you ever seen the person on his face put his face on the floor and walk?

His direction will not be correct, his walking will not be smooth, he is completely misguided and he doesn’t know where he is going, He will go left and right; he will go and bang himself here and there because there is no guidance for him.

You cannot compare this person with the one, يَمْشِى سَوِيًّا عَلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍۢ مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢ, who is straight on the line guided, he knows what he’s doing; he knows what to do and what not to do, what is right and wrong, what is haram and halal, what is permissible and what is not permissible, he knows everything, you cannot compare those two people, the believer and non-believer.

Simple as that, and that’s with believers, those who are non-believers in Allah (SWT).

What is that? They are not guided; they have no purpose in life. There is no purpose of their lives, completely misguided people but just look into the poorest among the believers.

He knows his direction, he knows to worship Allah Almighty, and he knows to follow the right path and this is the difference that Allah Almighty gave us in this ayah No. 22. Inshallah, there are many things to share with you, so take care of yourself.
