So, we stopped at ayah No. 25 and inshallah, we will continue from the verse (ayah No. 26).
Tafseer of Surah Al-Mulk
Now in verse No. 26, Allah Almighty is replying to non-Believers and said,
(۲۶) قُلْ اِنَّمَاالْعِلْمُ عِنْدَاللّٰهِ۪ وَاِنَّمَاۤ اَنَا نَذِیْرٌمُّبِیْنٌ
Which means, “Say, ‘The Knowledge is only with Allah’, and I am only a clear warner.” So, what is the meaning of this ayah? Let’s go in depth. First, Allah Almighty says, قُلْ, “Say, O Muhammad ﷺ.”
قُلْ اِنَّمَاالْعِلْمُ عِنْدَاللّٰهِ۪
The knowledge of the hour, the knowledge of the promise, the knowledge of the resurrected or resurrection day. All the knowledge of everything, it’s only and only Allah Almighty who knows. No one knows on the face of this earth, no one knows in the skies, heavens, and angles.
All kinds of angles that Allah Almighty created, no one knows when the day of judgment will take place.
This is according to the hadith, according to the incident and the saying of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Did that happen?
When a man came to him with a white cloth, with a dark black heir, and the companion saying that, “We don’t know who this person is.” It’s a long story, but what happened was, when he came and he sat next to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in front of him, he said,
“When will be the Hours (Day of Judgment)?”
Which means the (hours) day of judgment. So, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, he says:
That neither the questioner nor the one who is answering the question knows about it. The questioner, he said, Tell me about its signs. So, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is starting to tell the signs of the Day of Judgment in the specific hadith; he just mentioned a few signs: “That you will find that a slave woman will give birth to her master.
You will see that those who are barefooted, barely wearing, you know, clothes, their clothes all torn.
The people of the sheep, the companions of the sheep, those who are having the sheep with them, yet they will complete one another to build the tallest buildings.” So, these are some signs that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ gave in that hadith, but of course there are many, many other hadiths, the sayings of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
Day of Judgment
He told us about his prophecy. We cannot say that you know; it was just out of the blue or it was just coincidence, “No, No”.
He is the Prophet from Allah Almighty, and he said what exactly will happen before the end of this world. So, told about the signs of the day of judgment, we can talk about the signs of the day of judgment on some other occasion, but now, we know from the hadith and we know from this explanation of the scholars throughout history. Till today, no one knows about the day of judgment, except Allah Almighty.
Even Allah Almighty, he himself said in the Quran in some other verse, some other chapters that “Only and only Allah Almighty knows about the day of judgment.” So, we spoke about the Al-Musa, the knowledge of the hour, the knowledge of the day of judgment, the day of resurrection.
The knowledge of the Day of Judgment is only known to Allah Almighty; neither the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ nor the previous messengers from the time of Prophet Adam علیہ السلام, Prophet Musa علیہ السلام, Prophet’ Isa علیہ السلام, and all the Prophets (PBUH) know about the Day of Judgment; no one knows about the Day of Judgment, except Allah, and it will come suddenly.
But before coming, there are many signs; some are minor signs, and some are major signs. We can talk and explain these signs, Insha’allah, in another article.
So, Allah Almighty said in ayah No. 26 of Al-Mulk,
قُلْ اِنَّمَاالْعِلْمُ عِنْدَاللّٰهِ۪ وَاِنَّمَاۤ اَنَا نَذِیْرٌمُّبِیْنٌ
“Say, O Muhammad, to them that the knowledge of this hour, this promise, the day of judgment, is with Allah Almighty.”
وَاِنَّمَاۤ اَنَا نَذِیْرٌمُّبِیْنٌ
“I am not but only a clear warner.” Which means a prophet is here, and he’s saying to them that I’m just a clear warner to you.
I came here to tell you to follow the straight path; I came here to tell you to follow the path of Allah Almighty; I’m here to tell you to follow the guidance of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). “نَذِیْرٌ” means the one who gives warnings clearly.
So, we have no excuse, because till today, from the time of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ till today, what do we have? We have something very clear, and that is the Al-Quran.
The Quran is very clear. Even Allah Almighty says, “Kitab Mubeen,” that this is a clear book; whoever will read it, it doesn’t matter if he is an Arab or an Asian, European, or even a Muslim or non-Muslim. Whatever his religion is, if he is reading, he will get the guidance because it’s a clear book with clear guidance with clear instructions.
But there are some people that they have discovered between them and the truth; their hearts are completely sealed, their eyes are completely blocked and covered, they will not see the truth, they will not hear the truth, and this is what we spoke about in previous episodes in the same chapter in the same Surah.
Where Allah Almighty says that Allah Almighty created for them their hearing, their vision, their sight, and their heart.
So, they should hear, what is the truth? They should see and read, watch what is the truth, and they put in their heart the Iman, the faith, after seeing and knowing all these things. So, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is saying that,
“I am only and only a clear warner to you.” means I will not be the one who will punish you, I will not be the one who will judge you, I will not do anything to you, I am here to just tell you, and also in some other verses, he mentioned “Bashiran Nazira” and that he came to give the glad tidings and he also came to give a warning.
Final Words
So, he, Allah Almighty, sent him with two things: “Bashiran Nazira” and some other verses. Allah Almighty said, “He is the one who is coming with the glad tidings.” Which is the Islam, the beauty of Islam, you know the right path, the path of Allah Almighty.
The path of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, and Nazira, he is coming to tell people about the punishment of Allah about the hellfire.
So, you should know about this fact and get away from it, and you should know about the fact No. 1, which is the truth, the Islam, and the paradise, and you should get closer to it.
We have many verses and words that we will, Inshallah, talk about and ponder upon the meaning of. So, at the end, take care of yourself, and may Allah’s peace, mercy, and blessing be on you.
